Assessing Climate Transition Plans in the U.S. Food Sector
There is a growing need for U.S. food companies to disclose plans for achieving their GHG targets to align with the Paris goal of 1.5°C. Ceres’ new report, “The Investor Guide to Climate Transition Plans in the U.S. Food Sector,” outlines this need and highlights what investors should look for within corporate climate disclosures to ensure companies are on the right track. This discussion will also illustrate what implementation of the reports’ recommendations can look like in practice, highlighting publicly available disclosure on efforts to reduce value chain GHG emissions from companies tracked by Ceres’ Food Emissions 50 initiative such as Bunge, Chipotle, General Mills, Hershey, Starbucks, and Tyson Foods.

In this session, participants will:
- Explore critical elements of climate transition plans in the food sector
- Contextualize what the climate transition will look like for food companies
- Dive into how food companies can operationalize climate transition plans in their business
- Examine how leading companies plan to achieve their GHG emission reduction goals
